subsequent 25 editor vs subsequent 25 editor-VI

Post by dan_default » Wed Jan 13, 2021 9:15 am

After downloading and installing the editor/librarian for my Subsequent 25, there is both a subsequent 25 editor and subsequent 25 editor-VI

Why are there 2 editors? Is there a difference?

The VI one is an Instrument plugin, so you would use that on a MIDI track, the other one is like an Effect plugin, which you can therefore use on an audio track.

Actually the above is what it says in the S37 Editor manual, but the only way I've ever got it to work how I want (in Logic or Ableton) is to Create a MIDI track with an External Instrument routing the MIDI out to the synth, and with the Editor (effect version) on that same channel. I can then sequence within the piano roll as normal and send it out to the synth, complete with automation via the Editor, then record the audio back from the synth on another channel.

So I've never had a use for the VI version of the Editor.
