MIDI IN socket design on Sub 37

Post by Sihaz » Mon Nov 26, 2018 4:17 pm

Not sure if it's taken a knock somewhere along the line, but I noticed my MIDI IN socket is a little recessed compared to the MIDI OUT. As my Sub is one of the first batch, (with the dodgy filter knob), and well out of warranty I thought I'd have a look inside and see if there was anything I could do to improve the position as it's a bit tricky getting cables in now. Not impossible, but it needs a bit of care. Anyway, I discovered that the two sockets are totally different inside. MIDI IN is soldered to the motherboard and MIDI OUT is rivetted to the metal case making it much more solid. Can't see a way to get my MIDI IN in a better position as giving it a gentle push doesn't really help, it just springs back to its old position. Anyone else had this issue and thought of a way to improve it? Don't really want to start desoldering etc until it becomes an actual malfunctioning socket... Thanks.
