Re: Sub 37 upgrade legit or troll?
I waited 9 months after ordering my Sub37 until I got mine. I was not impressed at the keybed at all, I hardly even play the synth anymore because of it. I cannot wait to get this thing upgraded!
Re: Sub 37 upgrade legit or troll?
Will the upgrade include the keybed though?
Re: Sub 37 upgrade legit or troll?
The text on the sign-up page that describe the upgrade have changed from:ChiLam wrote:Will the upgrade include the keybed though?
"To all Sub 37 owners who would like to upgrade their instruments to the new specifications: we hear you and we are working on it."
To:
"If you feel that you would prefer the features of the Subsequent 37 over the features of your original Sub 37, we will be offering an upgrade option for existing Sub 37 owners"
I take "the new specification" and "the features of the Subsequent 37" to mean the full specification/features and not partial specification/features. It would be nice if Moog let us know what the intent is...

Frankly, I find it pretty odd that Moog has not posted this link here on the official forum and hasn't done any comment or official announcement either. Where was that link published and by whom?
Bass Player and Synthesist.
Voyager RME #1273 | Sub 37 #8490 with SSQ37 Update | Virus TI2 | Elektron MD MNM A4 | Roland SE-02 | Behringer Model D
Mac OS X 10.14 | Cubase Pro 11.0 | Ableton Live 9.6 | MainStage 3 | RME UFX+
Re: Sub 37 upgrade legit or troll?
I found it on Gearslutz, and the poster there had found it on Moog's Facebook page (I don't go anywhere near that book...). If I were Moog, polling for interest in the mod, I'd mail out to all registered users and put it on the news page. Surely a bit more volume would make it more attractive for all parties? However, Moog is so low profile these days that you have to find out about things by accident and can spot new synth models in the the wild that not even Moog has acknowledgedoli@sub37 wrote:Frankly, I find it pretty odd that Moog has not posted this link here on the official forum and hasn't done any comment or official announcement either. Just a little bump-a-roonie.
I would love to upgrade the quality of my sub37 keybed. If we can get anything close to the Voyager, that would be great. I don't feel like the original sub37 keybed was up to Moog standards TBH.

Key-bed update seems tempting! Not much fun to solo on with original keys..

As I have a Subsequent 37 CV I was looking for the keybed only upgrade for my Sub37 - keep them sonically different- in the UK I have been quoted £127.20 ex VAT but then you have to add outgoing shipping costs to that.

Re: Sub 37 upgrade legit or troll?
I will definitely get the keybed upgrade.
Also wondering about the full package. My only worry is that i won't be able to get the same overdriven fuzzy & gnarly sounds the sub37 has. Can one recreate the same sound on the Subsequent? The clean sounds seemed a bit cold in demo's, but on the sub37 i often use low osc levels to get warmer gentler sounds. Can they sound the same if wanted?

Re: Sub 37 upgrade legit or troll?
I can't help thinking it's kind of sad that an instrument of this caliber/pricerange had such shitty keys to begin with..
Well well, time to reach for the wallet again I guess

Re: Sub 37 upgrade legit or troll?
The question is how much better is the updated keybed!
Is it from the same Chinese manufacturer?
I think it is still not Fatar!

If it is the same as used on the Subsequent 37 - as I believe is the case - then I shall be happy even if it is not Fatarmacsaif wrote:The question is how much better is the updated keybed!

Re: Sub 37 upgrade legit or troll?
I'm definitely going to do the keybed. I am on the fence about the other upgrades. I've only messed with a Subsequent a little bit and do like the feel of the keybed a lot better than the Sub37. It did sound like there was a bit of sonic differences too (one being that I was using headphones and there is more gain there). But I'll have to play around with one a bit more to make sure I am going to like the sonic changes.

Re: Sub 37 upgrade legit or troll?
This keybed upgrade thing is interesting. I think I would need to play a subsequent first to feel the difference though and that is not going to be possible. Can't wait to hear some reports back from you guys who go ahead with this.
