Issues with Moog Sub 37 editor

Post by benprusinski » Thu Jul 06, 2017 2:53 pm

Ok, so I can open the stand alone Moog Sub 37 editor. I checked MIDI and USB connections but it says hardware disconnected per below images:

BUT the hardware is connected and can send/receive MIDI no issues. How do you resolve this issue? I'd like to upload more presets from the file to my new Moog Sub 37.

Second, how would I access the editor from within Ableton Live with the VST editor?

Are you sure the editor sees the Sub 37? You can check on the 'Setup' page -> 'Editor settings' whether the right MIDI input & output have been selected. If you have both USB and DIN midi connected, the editor may be confused as to which one to use.

Another thing to check is under ' MIDI settings' id either DIN or USB have been selected for input or output. But as you say you can send midi, that shouldn't be an issue.

Are you running a DAW at the same time you're trying this?

Thank you.

I was finally able to get it working. I had to check the settings in the editor, and switch to Sub 37 and now it can see the Moog. Was great to upload a bunch of new presets as well to my new Sub37 for creating music.

One thing that I am still trying to figure out is how to add the VST for the Moog Sub 37 to Ableton. It is not included AFAIK in the download bundle of firmware and editor software for the Sub 37. Is this something extra that one must buy from Moog to use?

Anyways, playing the Moog Sub 37 is a truly great experience. I also have an Ableton Push 2 which is great for workflow, jamming and adding drum and background beats but nothing beats Moog for the hardcore deep leads in a song or track.

The VST plugin is only the editor. There is no "software synth" Moog Sub 37. Why would you want that, if you have already got the real deal
