Sub37 Editor in Ableton Setup

Post by mibolux » Mon Dec 19, 2016 4:56 pm

Is there some working setup for Live9? Maybe without External Instrument?

How are you trying to run it? I've got it going, without the External Instrument. I don't have it in front of me right now but I can check my setup later. I know I had to disable the "Both" MIDI setting on the Sub37 and set it to "USB" otherwise the VST would not connect to the Sub37.

Sorry for the delay... Holidays kept me away from my toys...

The way I setup a session with the editor (and I came up with this on my own, before reading any of the myriad of ways online) is as follows:

I drag the Sub37 editor into the blank space and it creates a new rack. I then create a new MIDI track next to that and route the Sub37 to the I/O of that track. I'll then group both of these racks together, just to tidy things up. I do all my sequencing and knob tweaking on the MIDI track. If it is set to record, it will also record movements made in realtime thru the editor, which I always keep open on a second display. The editor does not reflect realtime controller movements when playing back though, not sure if this is a bug or by design but the controller movements are recorded and play back.

I also have the Sub37's MIDI options set to USB only and local control is on.

I believe I have tried it without issue using the External Instrument as well, is there a reason you do not want to do it this way? My process evolved out of a similar procedure I came up with for the DSI Mopho editor, which I implemented first. I'm not sure what the "proper" way to do this is but this has worked well for me.

See if this helps, if you have issues, let me know... My system seems to be functioning properly so I'd be glad to test stuff. Good luck!

Slight tangent - I don't see the VST editor in Ableton at all - have put it in the right folder along with all my other VSTs but nothing appears. Have the same with the Minitaur editor. Anyone had that issue?

What platform are you on? Mac installer puts it in kind of a weird location. Also, make sure you are using the version that corresponds with the bit version of Ableton you are using (32/64)... I'm on 64 bit...
