Sub37 Sequencer

Post by rekordz » Tue Nov 22, 2016 6:54 pm

Hi guys, perhaps this is a dummy question, if it is I'm sorry, but how do I set the Sub37 sequencer to NOT restart the sequence everytime it receives a note? I searched youtube and the manual for some guidance but without success.

Suppose I have a external step sequencer, lets say a drum machine or the octatrack, triggering the Sub27 and set up a sequence inside the Sub37 with lets say 4 steps, like a chord. On the Octa/Drum machine I trigger steps 1-4-6-7. I want the Sub37 sequence to play and follow the Octa/DM triggers and doesn't restart from step 1 every time it receives an outside trigger.

:?:

thanks

I'm not sure if this is what you want, but check out LATCH RSTRT on page 47 of the manual. (GLOBAL > SEQ OPTIONS > LATCH RSTRT: OFF)

Hmmm. My brain's not working well today. I'm still not sure what you're looking for. You said:

I guess I'm not sure what you mean by having the OT/DM "trigger" on steps 1, 4, 6, and 7. Say the sequencer has 4 steps: C, E, G, and Bb, and your OT/DM "triggers" on steps 1, 4, 6, 7. What do you want to hear from the Sub37 on beats 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7?

beats - sub37
1 - C
2 - nothing
3 - nothing
4 - E
5 - nothing
6 - G
7 - Bb

and as next step suppose on beat 4 I send a different root note, then the sub37 sequencer will transpose.

Ah, OK! So you essentially want incoming notes to advance (clock) the sequencer with each note. Unfortunately, I don't think that's possible, or at least I don't know of a way to make that happen. The sequencer is going to run at whatever tempo the arp RATE knob is set at (or whatever rate the external MIDI clock is at if the patch is set up for external sync.)

The best I could suggest is to set up the Sub37 patch to use external sync and run MIDI clock from your OT/DM to the Sub37. Then program the sequencer with rests so it gives the pattern you want. Like this:

1 - C
2 - rest
3 - rest
4 - E
5 - rest
6 - G
7 - Bb
