I have a question but first I want to make sure I correctly understand how Sample and Hold works before I ask the question. As I understand it, a Sample and Hold Modulator works by sampling a place on a waveform and then holding that value until the next time it samples. On the Sub 37 the Sample and Hold sounds random because it samples the noise. If the source of a Sample and Hold was a triangle or sawtooth waveform, then it would sound more like a quantized version of that waveform, correct?
So my question is can you assign a different sample and hold source on the Mod1/2 on the Sub 37 so it doesn't sound random? Or am I just misunderstanding how Sample and Hold works?

Re: Sub 37 Sample and Hold Source
I believe that there is no S&H circuit in the Sub37 - the random waveform is digitally produced. And yes, you have the right idea about S&H, there just isn't such a beast in the Sub.

Re: Sub 37 Sample and Hold Source
Ok, thanks. I was reading about the S&H on the CP-251 (that's a real circut I beleive) and wondering if the Sub 37 could do the same thing. I guess I'll have to get a CP-251 to do real S&H.

Re: Sub 37 Sample and Hold Source
Thats a great idea! You can S&H the LFO on the 251 and send that to the Sub through its CV inputs. Nice!
