Sub37 to Sub37 poly chain

Post by tigre25 » Fri Sep 11, 2015 4:13 pm

Hello,
My friend has bought a new sub-37 so now we have two sub-37 Moogs!

How to poly chain two sub-37 synths ?

Thanks in advance,

I don't believe polychaining has been implemented in the firmware yet.

I searched the Sub 37 1.1 firmware manual and indeed page 36 explains the POLY NUMBER and POLY MAX settings in the MIDI menu.

I guess I somehow missed that since I'm waiting for polychain support for the Sub Phatty.

Now if will just add support to polychain the Sub 37 to the Sub Phatty that would make my day.

I really do recall Amos stating after the work on the forthcoming editor, which was in line with this last massive update, they would be doing a Sub Phatty update that included poly chain for it, with other updates. Small company, with large demand for this wonderful instrument (Sub 37), and whatever else is baking down in the Moog Lab. I am actually hoping the to be announced officially today at some point, Mother-32, will add a nice complete voice to Sub 37 with it's own VCA, Osc, VCF, input audio from Mother to Sub 37...mad scientist/synthesis material.

Thanks for Reply. I also found page36 Polychain instruction but in fact I don't know how to make it.
Can you give an advice?

I'm very excited because in two-three weeks we will have a chance to do PolyChain with both Sub37's

OK. So, According to the Page36: "POLY NUMBER (MIDI MENU 3.1)

This parameter specifies the Sub 37 as a single polyphonic voice for use with other compatible
Moog synthesizers. Additional synthesizers must be connected via MIDI in order to add polyphony.
No two synthesizers should be assigned to the same voice. When no other synthesizers are
connected, this value should be set to OFF.
POLY MAX (MIDI MENU 3.2)
This parameter specifies the number of connected voices in a poly chain. This number should not
exceed the number of connected units. The default is 3."

For two Sub 37's POLY MAX would be set to 2 on both. POLY NUMBER would be set to 1 on the first and 2 on the second.

On a different note I had said I would never sell my Sub Phatty but I just might now in order to fund a second Sub 37. I'm getting too impatient waiting for the Sub Phatty update :?

Thank you Bald Eagle for the explanation how to set both two sub-37's. I couldn't work out this. Soon I will test Poly Chain!

By the way: What would be updated in Sub Phatty? A Poly chain possibility?

An update for the Sub Phatty poly chain feature had been promised some time ago. But things change and with Moogs current project load it could be a while before it happens. I just hope it happens.

Maybe the Sub Phatty is not selling so well so it could be a low priority. That wouldn't surprise me since for a bit more money you get a whole lot more in the Sub 37. Of course a better option for poly chain would be a Sub 37 rack.

Thanks for reply, I hope that soon the Moog Company will make updates for all Moog synths.
It would be great because another synth, additional oscillators are great, whatever it is, Little Phatty, Sub Phatty, Voyager
