Sub37 LFO RANGES!? Low setting..

Post by ChiLam » Tue Mar 24, 2015 7:31 am

In the manual on p19 it states the LFO RATE as default varies from 0.1Hz up to 100Hz but can be multiplied by 10x if the HIGH RANGE is selected to give 1Hz to 1000Hz.

On p44 it is stated that both LFO1RNG and LFO2RNG can be modulated through three settings (LOW,MED,HIGH)

On p47 it is again explained that both LFO1 and LFO2 have three RANGE settings (LOW,MED,HIGH)

Finally on the last page, p54, it is stated that the LFO rate is between 0.01Hz and 1000Hz

It appears that the LOW setting must begin at 0.01Hz and not the default 0.1Hz but how can this setting be activated?

Is it possible without using external midi to send CC76 at 0? The button only seems to toggle between MED and HIGH ranges. :?

The manual had an error regarding LFO ranges. The correct rates are ...

Normal Range LFO RATE = 0.1Hz - 100Hz
Hi Range LFO RATE = 1Hz - 1000Hz

I have no idea what low range is or how to set it externally. Is "normal" low or medium?

The manual on p19 seems to have been corrected in my revision stating the normal range to be 0.1Hz - 100Hz - The "three" available settings LOW, MED, HIGH are shown on several pages 44,47 explicitly and 49 implicitly where it describes 3 values for CC99. Strangely it does not make any reference to this on p19/20 regarding Modulations!?

The back page also states the LFO is specified at 0.01-1000Hz.

Maybe DemonDan will know the answer?

Low range sort of secretly exists in the Sub 37. I just haven't worked out how to easily switch between the three ranges.
During the early design phases of the panel it was decided that there were too many buttons and LEDs in the mod section and some things had to go. Indicating low/med/high of the LFOs was reduced to simply "HI RANGE" on/off... but secretly the low range lives on inside the LFO module, waiting to be unlocked.

Aha! Thanks Amos. Very cool indeed.

Maybe holding the "HI RANGE" button for a moment could be a possible solution, with a blinking LED to indicate the 3rd option? Just throwing it out there lol.

So great to know that theres still more goodness to come! :D

If it can ever be implemented (maybe through the menu), can you have the LFO going even further into the audio range? An Ultra HI setting?

I'd rather have
LED off = low
1 click = LED med lit = medium range
1 click = LED fully lit = High range
1 click = LED off = Low click,

So like the DEST button that goes round the six options, or the OSC buttons that go sequencially from 1, 2, both modes.
HI RANGE button would go LOW/MED/HIGH with LED OFF/MED/HIGH.

What do you think, Amos?
