Sub 37 : CV OUT Kit

Post by gian77 » Thu Feb 12, 2015 11:53 am

Hi,

Does anybody know if Moog is planning to provide a CV OUT kit for the Sub 37, like the LP ?
Would love to sent CV to my Minitaur and get the sound back to the Sub 37 audio input 8)

Thanks
Sub 37 (FW 1.2.0 / 1.0.1), Minitaur (FW 2.2.2 / 3.3.0), MF-Drive & MF-Delay

Hi gian77,

The Sub 37's design is such that it can not have CV Outs either via software or hardware updates.

Hi DemonDan, and thanks for the information.
Really, not even a pitch and gate ?
I don't really understand the technical reason why CV OUT signals cannot be picked on a "analog" synth ... too many digital controls ?
Anyway, if you said it I trust you !
So sad

I was eyeing up a Sub 37 (mainly for the sequencer) & was disappointed to read this
then I saw this
http://synthesizers.com/q174.html

Provided the sequencer sends midi notes out......

Everyone I know says the same thing - why the hell did Moog release these without a CV out?

Only thing that makes sense is they want to force you towards a Voyager for the extra revenue.

Whats more it's practically pissing on Bob's grave and legacy.

I'll keep my LPS2 thank you

Presets vs Patches - You just cannot quickly save/change/load a patch set-up that requires cables. OTOH I have a saved bank of presets that carries me through the set without hassle. I really think the Sub37 is a more effective gig machine than a studio machine. JMO

Minimoog Model D didn't have CV outs and Bob seemed quite pleased with that one.

But for his modular, KE requested presets. I had to retire the Model D because it just was not practical on tour. YMMV, but the Sub37 feels like it was built just for me. :D

Is that really the only thing that makes sense to you, bookem?

You honestly can't even begin to imagine any other possible reasons at all?

That's rather odd.

As I understand, there is still an analog board that is piloted through some CV stuff produced from Digital to Analog. These CVs couldn't be extracted? it seems the kit for the LP needed quite tricky soldering on the analog board to pick up de different CVs. I don't see why this is no more the case, unless the different analog components, osc, filter, gates are no more piloted by CVs.

Impossible is not true, but maybe not realistically feasible (get what controls the analog board, translate it and produce corresponding CVs is maybe too expensive to develop).

Now, it exists small boxes that produce CVs from MIDI, no?

Best Regards,

Greg

Couldn't agree more. Sold my Model D years ago and couldn't be happier with the Sub 37.
