I have had major GAS for a Sub 37 since it was announced, but lately have been looking into the modular side of life and and weighing the pros and cons of a mod sequencer setup with either a Q119 or Q960 as the core piece.
I'm curious about the arp/sequencing functionality of the Sub 37. Can I sequence a Voyager or T3 via MIDI and decouple the sequencer from the Sub 37 and play lines on it while sequencing other synths?
If using the sequencer output via MIDI is there stair stepping when adjusting the rate?
On the modular side of things, I have a Frostwave Fat Controller, and it's a fun bit of kit, but I don't like the fader-style controllers. Do the knob controls on the dotcoms provide sufficient precision that doesn't require the use of a quantizer for note values?
Honestly, modular looks like an endless rabbit-hole. Sitting here this morning looking at putting together a system including a 960, 961, 962, 963, 171, 172, and 149 plus walnut case/power supply/wiring harness is approaching $3k! Yikes! But it looks like a super fun rabbit-hole nonetheless.
Any comments and recommendations are greatly appreciated.
Hippy New Year!
