Sorry about that; we're a small operation. It's difficult to balance multiple projects, which is a pretty constant necessity... If I had to guess right now, I'd say everything should be wrapped up in 2-4 weeks. That is a non-binding official guesstimate. The sooner it's out the better, from my perspective as well as yours. Cheers, Amos
Thanks for sharing that.

Don't release too many products then if you can't support them. Or use your profits to hire more staff!

Dont be too hard on them, a Moog is for life not just for Christmas, so if its delayed well its delayed we will get it eventually and for sure its a small company but one day we might be grateful of that if we need a part or something.

As much as I'd like to stay patient, this feature was part of the advertising for the initial product release. While most dealers have removed it from the specs, it still exists at Musician's Friend "Standalone and DAW Plug-in editor included". That's false advertising.

While I love my Sub37 and all the features Amos has brought to it, hearing "a couple more weeks" time and time again is really not an acceptable answer any more. I seriously doubt Amos is to blame. As much as I respect what Moog does, they need to seriously consider hiring an additional programmer. If they farmed development out to a third party, they need to hold them accountable for it.

This is exactly what it is.

Our brand affection, brand association and brand fandom can be a source of joy and fun, but it is a perilous emotional state—it can delude and blind us to legitimate criticism, even ones of ethics. Moog should not promise an important, and to some, an essential, product feature and fail to deliver it. Now nearly a year later, no excuses can be made, only apologies.

Consider the very stark contrast of two other, also small, much smaller companies—Moog's "small company" status has been proffered as an excuse and rationalization far too often for many faults—who have done the exact opposite: promise no non-existent, forthcoming features at release, but, incredibly, instead give massive, product-changing features post-release, post-ownership, for free and on several occasions.

Those two truly exceptional examples belong to Teenage Engineering and Elektron.

Post-release, Teenage Engineering has given their OP-1 synthesizer, I believe, on an annual basis product augmentations through OS upgrades that have rendered it a very different and even more joyful product. Adding more synthesis engines, a drum synthesizer, more wonderfully unconventional and useful sequencers, etc. Now, four years post product release, another major set of features is rumored to arrive next month, and it will be, quite possibly, the most impressively impactful one yet.

Post-release, Elektron has given their Analog Four synthesizer owners similar reasons for surprise and delight, as 2 hidden features were unlocked. It was announced a year later that the Analog Four actually has flash memory for 128X the capacity than was available; you now have access to 4,096 sounds, 16,384 sequencer patterns, etc. Perhaps it took them the year since release to program the OS for it to process the larger memory load—and there was not a word about this hidden potential prior. And then when Overbridge was announced, an unprecedented program that allows, for the first time, analog products to integrate with a DAW like a software instrument, it was also made known that there is an audio interface hidden inside their compact analog products, which is why you can now multi-track audio from the hardware to a DAW via only USB.

I wish Moog would take the approach that those two companies took.

not sure I agree. overbridge took a bit longer than announced, and moog has actually added and fixed quite a lot in the upgrades.

I don't recall: Was Overbridge announced and marketed at the A4's launch?

Just checked. Overbridge was announced in 2014. The Analog Four was released in 2012. Overbridge had been delayed after it was announced, but unlike the Sub 37's Editor, it was not announced as a feature at the A4's launch.

sorry, I wasn't that clear. I bought my keys in summer 2014 and overbridge was supposed to come out the following september, but it ended up being a lot later, though I'm not sure exactly when. I just meant to say that I don't feel that either company neglects their users, especially Moog. They strike me as being determined not to cut corners, which seems necessary for their sound. With a synth as good as the sub37, it would be a shame to skimp on the editor.

The aspect of Overbridge is beside the point though, because 1) I didn't posit it as one of the 2 instances of Elektron as an exemplar (the +Drive and audio interface are); it was just mentioned as incidental information and 2) as I mentioned previously it was not a launch feature, so not a part of my argument or this thread's discussion. Additionally, Overbridge was announced as a post-release feature for all of their products that use it—the Analog Four released in 2012, Analog Keys in 2013, Analog Rytm announced Jan. 2014 and Overbridge in March 2014.

Just to be clear, though I think this is clear, because textual tone can be misinterpreted, I'm not being argumentative with you. Only clarifying my point. :D

This reminds me of the 1.1.0 firmware thread.

The editor will come. In time. I'll bet it works well on arrival too.

Anyone updated to 1.1.1 yet ?
Neither have I 8)

I've got the beta version and it's working fine so far. Mac OSX 10.11 El Capitan will be released today. I think it would be wiser if we test it on the new OS before releasing it.

It may be the reason for the delay ? Sometimes the agenda is not only up to moog.
