Hey Moogies,

I'm pretty interested in getting a Sub 37, but I gotta have a dedicated software editor and preferably a VST where parameter changes and physical knob tweaks can be recorded and automated in software like Ableton. The more customized to the specifics of the instrument and robust, the better.

I understand that the Voyager has an excellent VST.

I want the Sub 37, but I gotta have the editor or I can't really justify the investment.

I guess I'm just putting in my vote and letting everyone know that this feature is super key in my buying decision making process. Hope to see the editor soon because the Sub 37 looks and sounds great and is priced really well.

I too am waiting for the sub 37 editor before I buy. I only want to buy products that integrate perfectly and easily into my fast modern DAW workflow via a single USB. I thought this was supposed to be ready late 2014 - not late 2015?! This doesn't give me much hope in moog vst support and development which is very important for how I want to use the product. Elektron are tempting me a lot with their new overbridge developments.

Personally I'd rather Moog take their time and get the software right rather than rush out a product that's short on features and long on bugs.

Having the Sub 37 since late last year has given me tons of time to learn how to use the instrument and appreciate it's incredible-ness. I avoid using computers in live situations so knowing how to deal with the synth on its own is critical to me.

I once got into a situation with my Yamaha Motif XF where I used the software interface for everything and was flummoxed in a live environment when I had to make a change on the fly. That was an eye opening situation which taught me the computer interface was just gravy and not the meal itself.

I can understand that some folks who work mainly in a studio environment want the ease and flexibility of the computer interface but for me I want to learn to use the machine first and how to add value with the computer software later.

I am sure it will be out soon and although it is disappointing that no editor has missed another deadline I would rather have it working than me being the tester. I wouldnt hold buying though as they may stop making the sub tribute by the time the editor comes out, then you miss the tribute edition which is beautiful.

I agree. I don't feel the need of a software right now. The Sub37 is very intuitive and quick to learn. I already have more complicated synths connected to software, I'm glad to playing this one free of computer connections. However, I understand if some people are waiting for the soft. I'm sure it will help a lot for patches management. The current UI is indeed a bit claustrophobic.

really, I'm not sure the editor will have VST realtime capabilities through USB. Check what is available here in the forum about the editor, but don't hold back just on the , the Sub 37 is amazing with or without editor/vst plugin.

Given the mention of VST and a Voyager VST, I'm curious to know: are VST plugin's an extreme rarity amongst hardware, analog synths?

Before I saw this post, I was under the impression that Elektron's Overbridge is the only one doing it and doing it for the first time.

They seem to be a rarity but really shouldn't be in this day and age. Some synths being released don't even have proper midi control or automation in their quest to be 'vintage'. Soundtower make ones for the DSI stuff but I'm not sure they're any good/reliable from what I read. I know some third parties make them in ableton max4live for a couple of synths too.

Just a bump to this thread. I would really like to get the sub 37, but I would really, really love to remap the CV in functionality like you can on the Minitaur. If one could do this, I would go out and buy one as soon as my local shop opens on Monday...

CV MAPPING (GLOBAL MENU 2.1)
The CV MAPPING submenu allows you to map the external PITCH CV, VOLUME CV and KB GATE inputs to various parameters and functions. The CV mapping of PITCH CV and VOLUME CV to a desired parameter allows you to connect a continuous controller pedal (with a 1/4” TRS plug) to one of the CV inputs and then directly control the mapped parameter. The KB GATE input is similar but uses a 1/4” TS footswitch and typically controls switch-based parameters.

please include sync to for ableton and other daws, its like over bridge from elektron sweden.. I cant stand not being able to sync to ableton, cause I dont really know how lol

What do you want to sync to Ableton? If you press the Sync button on the Sub 37 the midi clock is synced with the DAW.

Sorry about that; we're a small operation. It's difficult to balance multiple projects, which is a pretty constant necessity... If I had to guess right now, I'd say everything should be wrapped up in 2-4 weeks. That is a non-binding official guesstimate. The sooner it's out the better, from my perspective as well as yours.
