Continued from my last post...

How rude & inconsiderate of me to forget to say thank you and congratulations to all the folks at Moog for their work on this exciting new instrument!

Omg... Omg... Arpeggiator, Sequencer, TWO LFO's!!, More distortion AND aftertouch??!! Someone hurry up and buy my Telecaster already, it's almost April!

Super Excited!

Re: Sub 37 poll POLYCHAIN W/ Sub Phatty

Post by cjolson80 » Fri Jan 24, 2014 12:11 am

How about being able to polychain with my SubPhatty?? That'd be nice. Then I could justify keeping it. That is until NAMM 2015 when the successor to the Little Phatty comes out... Or perhaps a new flagship synth. Moog is a legit business... So of course they have already been working on the next big thing for next year. And I by no means mean that in a negative way. I just wish I have more disposable income. Don't we all.

They probably could have made this a 2-voice if they wanted to, but Tom Oberheim would have been very displeased.

CV outs is a must, especially for those looping envelopes and syncd Arp/Seq.

well that's what we thought about the 104m & 108m.. but yes I REALLY hope they add CV OUT. I think we would all be willing to pay a little more for it

I hope Moog will keep natural wood sides for the standard edition. No plastic, no black stained wood, please.

calm down dude, I'm sure you will be able to get one. I think it was Steve Dunnington that said in one of the videos that moog will produce them a little over a year. Do you know how many of these things they can make in a year? A LOT! its not like they're only making 100. even after they stop making them stores will still have them in stock. the voyager select series was discontinued last year, they are still available. Taurus 3was discontinued, what 2 years ago maybe more, there are still a few in some stores (and I think they only made 1000-1500 of T3s)

The Sub37 sport a really fair price, but it's not super cheap like a monotron or even a microbrute where people will just buy one on a whim. so start saving if you haven't and keep your eyes on your favorite retailers website for the presale to start and I'm sure you will have no trouble getting one.

IMHO a high pass filter even if it lacked resonance (like the Roland Juno 60 or ARP Odyssey) would be very useful as would a switch to choose between low and high note priority.

man i dont think you understand, i waited over a year to finally get the Sub Phatty. When people on this forum were already well playing and twiddling knobs and posting on here, i waited over a year for it to trickle into a select few stores over here. And then there were all the bigger "names" in the local scene that were in line first before me and pulled their strings (or bribed i am not sure) to get one first before the "nobodys" like me. And even then, when i finally got one i had to settle for a demonstration "tester" one without a box or manual that every other greasy dude had wrenched the knobs on and played the keys in the shop after eating their fish-n-chips.

some countries get the reject treatment. and get their orders filled at the very last, after every other country has had their breakfast, lunch and dinner and are full and fat, maybe then they throw a few little countries a bone. so dont tell me to calm down. if they only make it for a year and it took a year for the Sub to reach this border then it will be deleted before i likely even see it. Thats if i do the right thing and buy it from a local shop.

im so excited about the Sub 37 like everyone else, and it just crushes your excitement and enthusiasm when you have to wait over 12 months longer than the big US of A to get one yourself, if the Sub Phatty performance is any indication.

anyways. This time im buying online and shippin ive just decided. The local music guitar shops can stick it. They could care less anyways, they have 2 crumby Samson controller keyboards or a Korg Monotribe sitting in the corner with some old Roland PCM garbage that no one wants and thats the extent of "Keyboard section".. Im not taking that chance of missing out. Not this time! The Sub 37 is going to be the biggest synth of the decade!

ok I can understand your frustration. it definitely sounds like you would be better off ordering online and maybe paying a little more for shipping.

and I totally agree that the Sub37 is the most exciting tying to come out of namm ( well that and the Arturia bay step) to say it's the best synth of the decade I'd a little much. after all moog has 6 more years to release a polysynth in this decade

If Moog is listening, and is able to give us CV Outs, which outputs specifically would you like to see included?
Sub 37 Tribute Edition, Taurus 3 Bass Pedals, Etherwave Theremin, Concertmate MG-1

haha thats true! i think im dreaming that Roland will remake the Analog Jupiter 8 by the end of the decade, thats the only thing that might give a Moog Poly a run for my hard-earned $$

CV outs should be mandatory on all modern analog monosynths by this point.

Ok, since it already has aftertouch, and since CV-out will probably be an available mod (like the other phattys), can we PLEASE have a built-in ribbon controller a la Voyager XL? I'm surprised more people aren't for this addition, especially considering no other modern analog synths have them (besides the XL, what else, the discontinued Andromeda?)

Am I the only one who enjoys continuous pitch slides with lots of delay (the kind you just can't pull off with a wheel)? Not to mention, controlling other parameters with it. I also love the idea of tapping different filter cutoff values in a non-linear fashion, as can be done with the Voyager touch surface. Just my two little cents.
