Sub Phatty Malfunctioning After Airport

Post by funkybeatz911 » Fri Jan 03, 2014 11:30 pm

Hi,

Problem: I took my Sub Phatty with me via carry-on luggage through airport security and now all the settings have been wiped and all I hear is a buzz and a click/thump when I turn on an amp and press keys. I have tried Resetting factory presets with shift mode and it did not work. I have tried plugging it into the editor and reloading via the computer and it did not work. Is my machine a goner?

thank you!

wow! it sounds like maybe the scanners at the airport demagnetized something in there. I hope not! Try to call Moog Customer Service and see what they say. I would be curious to hear if the X-ray machine or scanners could do something like this. It would be important to know for any musician looking to travel with their synth.

Thanks, I'll have to wait for the work week to give them a call.

Maybe somehow your firmware got erased? Tried to re-apply the firmware too?

Follow Up:

The problem has been resolved. Turns out I was just putting the quarter inch input in the wrong jack. Yup, simple mistakes happen. Sorry for wasting your time!

Yeah I know how that is. I completely freaked out one time when I was supposed to play during a set break of this band, but my mini would not turn on. I thought it just died on me, but it was just the 220/110 switch somehow got into the wrong position. I didn't think an xray could screw up electronics, otherwise there would be a mass uproar over it.

That's really stupid. ;)
Could have happened to me....well it happens to me regularly.

Last week I turned some powerswitches in my rack.
Nothing happend. Searched for the cause for 10 minutes when my wife asked if I already plugged in all the gear, because I planned the annual rewiring.
I love my wife. :)

When I received the first modules for my synth.com modular it was a day to remember. Everything looked great and I was anxious to get it all put together. Assembly went well, but I couldn't figure out why it wasn't working correctly. The oscillators sounded all messed up like they had been damaged in shipping, or not calibrated correctly.

I knew very little about modular synths so I figured it must be something I was doing wrong. I started to question my decision to buy a modular. I started to get upset because I spent all this money on an instrument I had no right to use. I was stupid for thinking I could join the mystical, magical, world of modular synthesis... then I discovered the power module's voltage switch was set to 230 instead of 115.

You sometimes feel like an idiot when you make user errors, but that's how we learn. I've sure learned a lot over the years. :)
