My Chemical Romance and the Moog Voyager

Post by Kenneth » Sat Jun 12, 2010 2:23 pm

I don't know how many of you are familiar, or have a liking for My Chemical Romance, but I was looking through their studio photos on their site, and I stumbled across a photo of the band's lead singer, Gerard Way, standing in front of (and most likely playing) a Moog Voyager. This was really exciting for me because synthesizers have never been a big part of the band's sound, and it got me speculating at whether the Voyager would be playing a large role in the band's soon-to-be-released fourth studio album. Please, any thoughts you have or opinions, post them here!

Yeah, this is the type of immature response I should have expected. Sorry for trying to make conversation.

You asked for opinions on the band. Just because I think the band is bleep doesn't mean you should get defensive. You asked for opinions and I said "emo". Here is a longer opinion: I don't care for MCR's brand of whiny trendy bullshit, and the fact that grown up men prance around wearing women's clothes and makeup doesn't make their music any better. Thanks for letting me freely state my opinion.

Alicia Keys played a voyager in a commercial. What's everyone's thoughts on her music?

I guess I should have explained myself in a little more depth. Personally I like the band and the music they make, and I simply wanted feedback from other fans on the fact that they are using a Voyager. I didn't think posting on the band's forum would be fruitful, as the only thing people talk about on their forum is how much they want to sleep with the band. So, knowing how much everyone here appreciates analog synthesis I thought I would post my thoughts here hoping that someone would offer me a valid, structured sentence on the matter, rather than unintelligibly grunting "emo" in the manner a high school jock. Does anyone have at least a complete sentence's worth of an opinion? Or should I try my luck with the teenage fan girls and see what they think?

I personally don't care for MCR, but I applaud any popular artist who tries to push boundaries with their sound. Hopefully they will put their Moog to good use.

I' get really excited when I find out someone is using a Moog synthesizer. It makes me want to go out and buy the record and listen to it, scrutinizing it for each bloop and beep that the Moog produces. I guess you could say I get a lot of musical influence from artists who use analog synthesizers, and oftentimes I'll get ideas for sounds from what I hear other artists doing on their instruments. I'm really excited to hear what they do with their Voyager.
