Octave Transpose Knob Assignment

Post by Subtronik » Fri Jan 08, 2010 4:25 pm

Would it be possible to assign the headphone volume knob as the octave transpose?

I'd rather simply spin a knob to change octaves than hit the edit button twice then the - or +.

It would also be great if the octave change could be saved within the patch.

One of the guys who got banned thought that the headphone output knob should have been used for preset scrolling.

So How about making the headphone knob assignable to many features, people might want?

That thread got removed and I could have sworn the answer was in there.

I'd rather the backlight knob was assignable.I never use the backlight.
I have a Belton spring reverb tank on my headphone out, so I'd like that to stay as it is.
I agree having the mixer external input knob change presets is not ideal.

I do not like the idea of misuse other knobs for certain new features. This would cause more confusion. And on a Minimoog you had to switch the octaves per oscillators. And did someone complain about this? So the existing Voyager transpose feature is OK for me.
keep on turning these Moog knobs

Sequence:
Prodigy * minimoog '79 * Voyager * MF102 * MF103 * MF104z * MP201 * Taurus 3 * Minitaur * Sub Phatty * MF105 * Minimoog 2017+ MUSE * One 16

I also don't have any problems with the Voyager as it is now, but I figured if people are requesting asignable knobs then make that assibnable knob optional as to what it is assignable for.

I think they about have the Voyager as good as it can possibly get and if theres a feature that they wanted to add, I probably wouldn't be able to foresee the need for it.

Maybe for you. I can manage a simple knob reassignment.

And what would it hurt if the option was available anyway, it's not like you'd be forced to use it.

I'd LOVE to be able to assign the headphones knob to octave change or preset browsing !

Nooooooo, not the headphone jack.
Have any of you guys that are having difficulty switching octaves or presets tried using an external MIDI device ?

This seems a bit redundant.
Why not just change the octave switchs in the osc. section and save ?

It would use up memory that could be used for something else and the programmers could also be spending their time on other stuff.

Simply awitching the octave switches is not the answer. Many of the patches I use don't sound right if you only switch the OSC switches as the filter keyboard tracking is now off. When I use the transpose the tracking also follows the octave change. And no, I do not use external MIDI devices, I have more pedals under my rig than there is room for now, I don't need more. And I also will not have a computer in my rig.

Sounds like your rig is on top of a Tardis. Could be handy for getting all those retro sounds

You really think the added function would use up enough memory to be noticed in the Voyagers OS? How about we ask Rudi?
