LFO OUT to GATE IN

Hello brothers and sisters in Moog.
Have a small question regarding the GATE CV IN on a Voyager.
I'm fairly new to CV control, so the question might sound dumb:
Does a GATE IN require a steady on/off signal, or could I trigger it from my MF-103's LFO OUT?

The idea is: as long as the MF-103 outputs some LFO signal, the Voyagers Filters and Env's stay open. Or will results vary with the rise and fall of the LFO?

You should be able to trigger the gate with a variety of signals. Once the voltage reaches the point that the gate is triggered, the gate opens an ENV it is triggered and will stay way as long as the voltage is above the trigger level. A gate is an "all in" kind of thing.

Just tried feeding LFO OUT to GATE IN.
Gate opens slightly when LFO is 30% to mid cycle.
GATE is fully open at LFO peak.

I guess it does require a steady on/off (pulse/square) to remain open.

I guess you can think of it like you need to hold the key down to keep the envelope open.

Check you VCA and VCF setting that might be what is causing "slightly open" sound. If your envelops are set to open slowly, you should not hear anything if you increase the speed of the LFO. Try sending a square wave.

Oh there was something that I read about using the external envelope in. I think you need to jack your sustain all the way open to use it properly, so your input signal doesn't die.

If that doesn't work try messing with the decay too.

Naturally I made sure the VCF and VCA are at 0 attack, full sustain etc.. before doing the test.

It makes sense, that the GATE will follow the curve of the LFO.
I just thought for a second the GATE might be a different kind of CV with on/off state and no Grey areas ,)
