Voyager's Backlight Lifespan?

Post by insomniyack » Sun Mar 30, 2008 7:54 pm

I read somewhere...

Run the backlight only when you need to, and even then, not at full brightness (to extend the lifespan of the backlight)

So what's the lifespan of the backlight? Is it easily repaired?

Thanks!!

According to the manual:

"The lamps used to light up the panel have a half-life of 4000 hours at full intensity. This means the lamp will be half as bright after approximately 400 hours of use if used at full intensity. The lamp can be conserved greatly by using the brightness control. By running the lamp at half intensity, the useful life of the lamps may easily extend beyond 10,000 hours or more"

So I guess it depends on how bright (and how often) you run the light.

As far as replacement, it looks like it's a factory repair. Again from the manual:

"With proper conservation, you can expect your lamps to last for many years. Moog Music will be stocking replacement lamps which can be installed at the factory."

I suppose this also means that you could get the lamp color changed when you send it in for replacement.

:)

Speaking of the gooseneck - I like it and all but not too fond of the bulb. Are there any (colored) LED replacements for that bulb?

Good question- I wouldn't mind replacing the bulb with a red one, for instance...
