I also prefer hardware synths even if it involves an actual special-purpose computer such as romplers. Analog synths are also dedicated analog computers. I once considered using laptops live but too many unexpected glitches tend to occur, specially if you are actually playing.
The 'real thing' in fact has always more character, and it is also true that analogs keep their value.
As much as I like analog sound, if I am doing poly harmony stuff on it I find sometimes difficult to put a solo line above it. That is where I find wavesequence invaluable, because it creates a rich tone that is also pretty fluid; I see it as ideal to put the minimoog upon.
I also find samplers a lot of fun, specially if you are screwing the sound with a lot of modifications before you actually sample it (laughs).
