Voyager wave shape modulation
Absolutely racking my brain but cannot figure out a way to modulate the wave shape of just a single oscillator via LFO (as opposed to all oscillators). Can this be done via any of the programmable destinations/pot mapping? I’d love to hear from anyone who has actually managed to do this.
Re: Voyager wave shape modulation
I just checked on mine & pot mapping gives you individual osc waves as destinations.
You might be able to use midi cc commands to do that too, from your DAW?

Re: Voyager wave shape modulation
VCO 1 waveshape: CC # 9 (MSB) & CC # 41 (LSB)
VCO 2 waveshape: CC # 11 (MSB) & CC # 43 (LSB)
VCO 3 waveshape: CC # 13 (MSB) & CC # 45 (LSB)
If the normale MIDI precision of 7 bits (= 128 values) is good enough, just use the MSB Bytes (CCs # 9, 11, 13).
But modulating the individual VCO waveshapes via the Voyagers pot mapping is not possible. The LFO output is not a pot mapping source. But you may use an external LFO on the MOD 1 or MOD 2 socket and use this pot mapping:
SRC: MOD 1 (or 2)
Dest. OSC. 1 Wave (or the OSC. 2 or 3 waveshape)
Direction Normal (or inverted)
Amount 100% (or 50% or 25%)
You can use a source several times in the four pot mapping slots. But each destination may only be used one. If you set several pot mappings to one destination, only the first slot of this destination will work.

Re: Voyager wave shape modulation
Wow Till, that's great information, thanks for posting!
Too bad the LFO is not usable as a pot mapping source: I think I ran into this before: thinking the concept of "pot mapping" was "source mapping" but it's not.
if you have a VX351 breakout box you can get the LFO CV & patch it back to either mod source.
Some Moogerfooger pedals have LFO out, too

Re: Voyager wave shape modulation
The pot mapping was added later with a software update. It runs as a pure software. And as there is no way to get the analog output of the LFO into this digital chain (without the help of a VX-351 Voyager CV Expander), it is missed as a source.
The analog inputs like the MOD CV ins, the touch pad, the wheels and even the aftertouch (it is also an analog thing) are scanned like the pots of the front panel and transferred into the digital domain, as they are also used to send out MIDI data. So these are included.

Re: Voyager wave shape modulation
At some point I want to add CV ins for each osc wave shape. Too many other repair projects on the go though, and trying to write music too. No time..

Re: Voyager wave shape modulation
Thanks for that info.
Is it possible to route the LFO CV out straight into the Mod1 or Mod2 jack to then be able to use that as a mod source directed to one of the wave shapes via pot mapping?

This should work.Quatschmacher wrote: ↑Wed Apr 12, 2023 7:38 am Thanks for that info.
