Minimoog Model D replacement screws

Post by drogoff » Tue Apr 19, 2022 11:17 pm

Hi all.

I'm doing some small restoration/repair/calibration on an amazing 1971 Mini. It's lost a few screws over the years and I'm looking for matching replacements. I've come up with this table for all the ones I can see:

Code: Select all

Quantity	Description Where
2 #6 x 1 1/2” flat-head Philips wood screw wheel panel
10 #4-40 x 1/4” oval-head Philips machine screw wheel panel
10 #4-40 hex nuts wheel panel
10 Lock washers internal tooth, #4 wheel panel
4 #4 x 3/8" x 1/4” oval-head Philips Sheet metal screws main panel
Anyone know if this looks correct? I'm not sure what the finish on them is called. I've googled around and think it might be Black Oxide but I'm not sure. For something this old and beautiful, I want to get it right!

Thanks,

David

I can't help you with the list of screws, but if you have a hard time to get these "black oxide" colors, there's a good chance you can find regular "white" screws and make them look right with a gun blue liquid or paste, eg. Birchwood casey products

I've done that with several different metal parts, last time I did it on two new screws that was missing on my moog vx-351.
