Moog Model D contact spring replacement

Post by maxhifi » Wed Mar 10, 2021 2:04 pm

Hi,

I have a question I am hoping someone here can help me with. I am working on a Minimoog which had badly corroded contact springs, most of which were broken. I removed the keyboard's PC board, and the actuators, and have removed the remnants of the old springs. I have also ordered two sets of 44 springs from CAE sound, and the installation tool.

Since no instructions were provided with the new springs, I thought I would ask here before I jump in. What is the correct sequence to install the new springs? Should I use the tool to install two springs in each actuator, and then install the actuator to the PC board as an assembly, or should I solder the springs into the board first, and then install the actuator? I could see either method being successful, but would greatly benefit from knowing how others before me have done this, along with any tips which may prove useful.
