Minimoog Model D ATA Road Case / vintage Minimoog compatibility

Post by TheInertials » Sat Jan 02, 2021 3:35 pm

Should my original (circa 1970s) Minimoog Model D Serial No. 8602 fit in the current Moog Music Minimoog Model D ATA Road case?

I just received delivery of a new, Model D road case and it doesn’t “fit like a glove”. It’s like trying to fit a size 12 1/2 foot into a size 12 shoe. I stopped trying to fit it into the case because I didn’t want to damage the foam. It seems if the space had about 3/8 to 5/8” room from front to back—the sides are fine—it would fit, and snugly.
Do the modern Model Ds need to be forced into the foam in order to fit?

Thanks.

My Reissue fits in the ATA case perfectly - no squeezing it in required, fits like a glove
