Best Minimoog FILTER clone out there ? (Typo !)
Looking for advice as to the best Minimoog filter clone ( schematic, kit, or PSB parts etc) I know YuSynth do a clone that’s been modified but I would like
as authentic as possible. I have an AJH MiniMod which is excellent but would still like an authentic (big component !) filter clone
Yes ! I did build my own but despite using correct components, matching etc etc ..it was a bit of a failure not getting the results I hoped for.

you might have better results on a site like muffwiggler

Oh...that’s something that never occurred
to me.
I guess I won’t make any more posts unless it’s something to do with genuine Moog stuff.

The nerve of some posters making helpful suggestions

Using up valuable Moog brand message board space asking a Moog related questions? Sounds like a good idea.
Talking about Moog is always a good thing. When it's left out of the conversation, that's when you need to worry.
Having the conversation on your own property is priceless.
I would have been interested in the conversation.

well, go ahead then
it had been a few days, and no one had replied to the fellow
there are a LOT more DIY people & projects over at Muff's: he would surely get a wider variety of opinions and experience from others there who have built clones. I was indeed trying to be helpful
most people here appear to be primarily consumers, rather than builders

I agree! I do clone/DIY work there too. It's such a great sound. It still give me the chills playing it. :0)ummagumma wrote: ↑Sat Nov 07, 2020 7:34 pm well, go ahead then

lets get this rolling; what are some of your faves, and why?

Beautiful sound, wish I had a module to share too. Oakly also makes a eurorack version. And by the pictures they appear to use Taiwan Alpha pots. - just in time for xmas. Thank you!ummagumma wrote: ↑Tue Nov 10, 2020 3:41 pm this looks good, especially as it has a mixer built in

Re: Best Minimoog FILTER clone out there ? (Typo !)
maybe I misunderstood: you said you've been doing DIY, and your profile says you have a system 55 & minimoog clone (?)
so what filters have you built/modded?

Re: Best Minimoog FILTER clone out there ? (Typo !)
The signature is a bit stupid I guess. I'm going through the Behringer clones replacing the most egregious cost reduced parts; potentiometers - all of them. I've stripped a 914, ready for better caps in the LF bands. I'm interested in what other folks have done that may substantively contribute toward
a better sound.
Behringer knee-capped the implementations to fit their overall cost models. There are a couple of places that really stick out; the pots, VCO thermal controls, TH caps. Replacing them increases usability, greater range of control, better long term reliability. So, I'm researching what folks have found in their work that also contributes to better overall metrics in re-engineering vintage designs to fit modern components.
But, no I haven't knocked out DIY kits. I'm a retired digital engineer having a bit of fun working on something reminiscent of an analog machine I fell in love with when I was a teen. I'm also writing software for Korg Prologue, and my modular rig is for modeling modulation chains for digital oscillators.
The minimoog is the Poly D, fairly competent effort once you replace the pots, but there's some additional odd quirks that need addressing. And here too, improving the filter would be of great interest as well.
Whether it ultimately embodies a/the vintage sound is less important to me as assembling an instrument with the System 55 architecture. I like the basic module function specifications; inverters, edge stretchers, wire-or, DC mixers, attenuators, etc... each a simple atomic function.
