Black Mod Wheels?

Post by northern hope » Wed Aug 16, 2006 12:22 pm

I'm looking for solid black mod wheels for my voyager....the blue-led things just don't agree with me. I called Moog and they only have transparent grey and clear, but I could have sworn that some of the original Voyagers had solid black mod wheels. Am I dreaming this up? If not, does anyone have a nice set that they would like to part with?

Thanks.

None of the Voyagers had black wheels, not even the early ones. All of the first 600 SEs had blue wheels.

the "new" grey wheels are dark smoked acrylic... they do look pretty close to black, actually.

As for custom LED colors, I don't expect it to become an option any time soon. However it is not inconceivable to do as a custom mod... maybe after the LP Stage edition is up and shipping we might have some leisure time to think about such things.

Cheers,

Amos

If you are a little bit experienced with electronics, you might swap the blue LEDs with some red, orange, green or whatever colour you get LED. But be sure to change the resistor in serial of the LED to match the needed voltage. A voltage for a blue LED (about 4 V) will most likely burn your red LED.
Some day when I have nothing else to do, I will wire the LFO output to the mod wheel LED and make it change its colour from red to blue according to the LFO speed.
keep on turning these Moog knobs

Sequence:
Prodigy * minimoog '79 * Voyager * MF102 * MF103 * MF104z * MP201 * Taurus 3 * Minitaur * Sub Phatty * MF105 * Minimoog 2017+ MUSE * One 16

For me blue ones is O.K. Only I really need is to dim them because of too bright. An idea here (for Amos) is: use front panel brightness knob to adjust also a wheels brightness as well.

The original Performer edition Voyager that came out after the SE's came standard with soild white wheels it was never offerd with balck wheels standard. The Clear with blue LED's were an option for the perfromer.
