model D reissue, finish options?

Post by ummagumma » Fri Dec 08, 2017 1:56 am

I have seen a couple different finishes on these, but cannot find any info on the MOOG website

some appear more reddish brown, and others are more yellowish/brown

does anyone know what they are called? are they all made out of the same type of wood?

thx

According to a message from Moog posted at viewtopic.php?p=161271#p161271 there is only one finish option for the Model D reissue. But sure, it's wood, so they won't all look the same.

wow, that is interesting!

thanks!

I was sure there were multiple finish options, based on the variance in colour I've seen....or maybe I'm hallucinating

... or the white balance of all photos has not been matched.

Anyhow: When I first watched pictures/videos and later on saw the Model D Reissue in real life I didn’t like that yellowish finish compared to my former darker redish Model D. Now the Model D Reissue has been in my possession for about 6 months and now I love the finish.

If I had the option to get a Model D Reissue red/brown instead of the yellowish cabinet I probably would go for it. But I’m completely happy with the finish as is.
