Couple of physical anomolies

Post by HookedOnSonics » Tue Aug 25, 2015 4:25 pm

Got an XL last month and notice that the one panel had a notch in it, the knobs look like they are covered in a plastic that is bubbled, and the XY pad has a nick in the middle. Is this normal to receive an XL in that state?

I never owned a Moog so i not sure what to expect like the bubbles on the knobs and notch in the wood. Sound wise it's awesome, just a little disappointed in the physical anomalies. I looked at pics of others and don't see that sort of issue.

check that the bump on the knob face isn't actually a plastic cover your meant to protect the top.

Plastic transparent covers in the knobs can be removed and is normal on a brand new XL (mine also came with those). The notch on the panel seems more like minor wood imperfection, but I'm sure the whole wood frame is polished and built to last a lifetime!

Hi HookedOnSonics,
Each knob has a protective cover you can remove yourself, so that's easily taken care of.

In your pictures, the wood looks to have a natural shaping to it, but it's hard to tell.
Keeping in mind that wood itself is imperfect, please let us know directly if you believe this is a manufacturing issue or simply an anomaly in the wood.

Regarding the XY pad; if your unit arrived this way, again, please let us know. We build each unit by hand and a new unit should not have any damage anywhere when it arrives to you. If it does, it's most likely been opened.
