Perfect Partner for Voyager?

I've looked at the Andromeda. Didn't click with the sounds I've heard as much - there's a harsh quality to it even with some of the pads, though I don't doubt it's capable of more. Probably down to the specific videos I've heard.

I'd be put of buying second hand for something that there's apparently no customer support for, and a new Prophet generally seems to be cheaper than a used A6.

Still just dreaming at this stage though. Having okayed a Voyager purchase with the Mrs I don't know how soon I'll be able to sneak a second £1k+ synth past her. Might have to sell something. Like a kidney.

That's odd, I think all dsi sounds kind of harsh. And I would never describe the a6 as harsh.

I have the Andromeda and the voyager and very rarely do I use the two together. I don't think they blend that well imo. If I wash the moog in effects it helps.

If I were you I'd get a couple used rme's, so your voyager has more polyphony.

I plan on getting the oberheim 2 voice in the spring, hoping that will sit better with the Andromeda.

So, I have a nord lead (2x), and I can understand some of the complaints, but I can also see where stiiiiiiive is coming from because the interface is very approachable. I use it to control a slim phatty, a tetra, and an electro2 rack (yes, I have two nords, what a prick ).

I run the lead through an mf101, which seems to fill the tone out, as well as take a bit of the edge off. I keep debating over whether I want to replace it with a virus TI, or go the other direction and get a prophet 08 (I'm also open to any other suggestions). Thing is, every time I start getting ready to replace it, I built some patch I really like and get a little apprehensive about letting it go. Of course, even if I replace it in my rig, I still probably won't sell it.

As for the electro rack, it's a good sized unit to have organs and EPs on. Of course if something better, yet still compact and portable, exists out there, please tell me about it so I can buy one. ha.

I can say that they both go well with the voyager and phatty, at least to my ear. I used to have a radias, but when Moog entered my life, it had to go. I know some of the older korgs sound great, my friend has an MS-10. However, the radias sounded cheap, even next to the nord, but especially next to the moog. again, just my opinion. Of course, back then I didn't have six foogers to run the korg through. ha.

So, I guess in a way, I'm in a similar situation. Give me some suggestions to replace the lead in my rig. Digital and VA are ok, but if anyone has a good recommendation for an analog poly. I'm all ears.

I never liked playing Moog in conjunction with traditional analog polysynths like the Junos and things like that. I always felt that they were competing, trying to fill the same sonic hole, even when playing two completely different patches.

I really like using my Casiotone 405 + reverb/delay to play ambient, swelling pads underneath bass and lead sounds from the Voyager. Those Casiotones are some of the most underrated keyboards in the history of mankind. Truly, you don't need to spend thousands to get unique and beautiful sounds. The two play very nicely together. I'm thinking about collecting all the old Casiotones. You know.... Gotta catch 'em all....

I have to agree that a blofeld would be a god companion.

My favorite is the VFX-SD. A Blofeld works well also. Of course a P5 or Chroma sounds good with a Voyager.

For the record I plumped for a used Prophet 08 PE keyboard on eBay. Really happy with it. Haven't actually received my Voyager yet though! The distributor gave me an estimate two weeks ago that it would be with them tomorrow, so should get it Saturday hopefully! Just sold my Jen SX1000 to make some room (there is no room).

Re: Blofeld - not enough knobs. I've come to realise that I just hate menu diving and endless encoder grinding to get anywhere - it seems like it might be in that space to me. Although for the price and what I've heard of it, it does seem an impressive synth.

I'm new in this forum. Just wanted to share my thoughts on the subject.
I've got the Voyager XL and I love it, but now and then I too miss something more digital and polyphonic of course. I have also got the Prophet-600, which is nice. It's polyphonic and it sure can bite. But I am considering getting one of the old Waldorf synth, e.g. a Q or an XTk. I use to have a micro-Q and I regret that I sold it years ago. It did have that piercing digital sound that I miss in my setup today. I have been looking at the Blofeld as well, but I agree that it hasn't got enough knobs.

If you don't have tons of money to throw around consider a Roland JX-3P with the controller thingy (PG-300) and you have a great Polysynth with a lush sound that has decent patch memory and some really great features for modulation and chorus.
Yes it has DCOs but they sound good and the filter is a gem!
I use mine almost as a deluxe string synth as it can do a pretty decent mimic of my Korg Lambda es-50 but it can easily do cutting nasty polyphonic sounds too (not quite as agro as a Casio CZ5000 though).
They are very reliable and cheap as chips...
