New model Voyager
Are we on the eve of a new model Voyager--new announcement coming !
My guess it will have USB and be a SMT main board rather then thru hole which is fine

Re: New model Voyager
December 2012 Voyager rack backlight --much cheaper than RME--priced between LP and RME my guess $1499 RRP
keyboard model $1999
SMT main voice board ---not thru hole
From 2013 Voyager Performer ,EB,RME and XL will be discontinued once existing stocks are sold at Moog --maybe a new super model for 2013
I think this is a great move --time for a change
2002 to 2012 Voyagers will be collactable in years to come so will Taurus 3

David, I don't understand. What's the difference, to you, between a "Voyager Rack Backlit" and a "RME"?David Bulog wrote:December 2012 Voyager rack backlight --much cheaper than RME--priced between LP and RME my guess $1499 RRP

What is a Voyager Rack Baclit alternative keyboard version?

Re: New model Voyager
-cheaper to make analog board (SMT)
USB
better LCD display
CV/Gate 1V per Oct standard --like Taurus 3 /Minituar

I don't think you understand. Moog would not sell a "Voyager Rackmount Edition Keyboard Edition", let alone for $1999. I'm not going to explain why. Can you follow my logic?David Bulog wrote:-cheaper to make analog board (SMT)

Re: New model Voyager
David, I have to agree with Kenneth and Stiiiiiiive. What would be the point of offering such an uninteresting product ?
But, with Michael Adams at the helm of Moog Music, you never know... He's a businessman, first and foremost. If he thinks that this "rehash of an old product" could make money for his company, he'll come out with it.
I do agree, however, on your assessment that the Voyager XL and EB will most probably be discontinued in 2013.
The fact is, the Voyager market is beginning to saturate. That's probably why the Select Series is on its last leg. Moog Music needs to come out with a proper synth to replace the aging and faltering Memorymoogs out there. It is more than overdue.
With today's technology, SMT and China's super low cost man power with more than acceptable quality level, this could be more than possible to do at a reasonable cost for an 8 voices, 3 osc, 1 ladder filter per voice polysynth. That is, if Moog Music really wanted to...

Re: New model Voyager
My point is you can make just as nice or if not a better synth than the current Voyager using SMT rather than thru hole
Moog can make a really really decent synth for USD$1995 --they did it with the Taurus 3 using SMT--so they have done it before
If Moog come out with keyboard version of a Voyager with USB and the same big LCD display as Taurus 3 for same price -------
thats the way forward and they can make money at that price point

Re: New model Voyager
I understand your point of view, David, and I respect it.
However, I don't agree with it if it's only to offer basically the same old Voyager in a new skin, with bigger display and SMT technology, at a slightly lower price.
We need a new product. Not a rehash of another monophonic synth.
Moog Music needs to take on DSI, and offer its version of an analog polysynth.

Re: New model Voyager
That photo is interesting, but wonder what it is?
Looks like a no menu, no touchscreen, no memory, smaller Voyager.
Could it be a Voyager Micro? Small 2 1/2 oct. keyboard like the Rogue/Prodigy with Old School analog control.
Just guessing?

Re: New model Voyager
The release of another Voyager would not make any sense unless it offered something that the previous Voyager's didn't.
And by that statement I don't mean GLAM.
I wondered why a backlit Old School or XL wasn't done already.
They really do need to release something innovative.

Re: New model Voyager
An Old School RME? It would be like the RME, but voltage controlled only, no MIDI. I'd go for that! I could get an extra Q104 from Synths.com for it!
Minitaur, CP-251, EHX #1 Echo, EHX Space Drums/Crash Pads, QSC GX-3, Pyramid stereo power amp, Miracle Pianos, Walking Stick ribbon controller, Synthutron.com, 1983 Hammond organ, dot com modular.
