After 10 years of using used analog gear, I have finally taken the jump into ....well...new analog gear. Called up Nova and they offered me an awesome deal on a voyager (walnut/blue) and a DSI Prophet. Luckily I will have a month to figure out the bells and whistles on the Prophet before the Voyager arrives.
My question is simple. While I have had years’ experience with synths and understand all the tweaks that are needed to change the sound, I am a complete noob when it comes to modular or even semi modular. In the next year, I would like to expand to the CV351 and possibly some foogers. Which is a good starting point when trying to expand the voyager out to satellite devices or feed it back to itself?
Also...what should I be sure NOT to do once I get the Voyager here?
This board has been a blast to read through and thanks for taking the time to read my dinky little post!
Finally pulled the trigger - 4 weeks out
Re: Finally pulled the trigger - 4 weeks out
I think getting the VX-351 may be a good place to start. I just got a Voyager Old School a couple weeks ago and am going to get the VX-351 so I can expand the CV outs then I will look to expand from there.

Yep - I pick up my new EB tomorrow, and I've ordered the VX-351 as first cab off the rank along with the Voyager. Next step will be Foogers or Etherwave Pro.

Yes, the VX-351 is the place to start. The CP-251 contains some duplicate sections of the VX-351, and some new stuff as well. Nice to have too. The more jacks to plug into, the better. I have two of the CP-251's and I use them both a lot. An Etherwave Plus is also nice to have to use as a controller, a bit expensive used as a controller only , but you can feed its audio into external input of the Voyager, for more Moog sounds. It's also a great conversation piece.

Nice combination! Welcome to the forum.
I think the RIngmod has a lot of potential for clangorous sounds, which can give you some odd spacey effects if that's what you are after. If I had one indespensable fooger it would be the delay. Though they don't make those anymore, a delay is the magic touch.
I love the guys at Nova! If they have what Im looking for, they get my business. They saved us thousands of dollars over the years.
All of the Foogers are neat, though I have no experience on the Flux.
The best addition I made to my Voyager besides the delay has to be the q119 sequencer. For something like that.

Re: Finally pulled the trigger - 4 weeks out
The Ring mod is probably my favorite. It took me a while to learn to use it because i thought it was a one trick pony. But you can get some amazing sounds from it without it sounding clangorous. To do that effectively, you really would need the outputs of the VX so you can take the pitch CV out of the VX to the freq CV of the ring mod. My second favorite is probably either the FB or the CF... They are both good for different reasons. The CF can add so much more warmth, and the FB can add more fuzz to put it gently.
