Voyager Polychain question

Are the Phattys the only units that can be linked up to provide additional voices? OR are we able to use the MIDI Out setting in the Voyager or Little Phatty to send that MIDI signal to add another non-Phatty synth as a second voice?

Sorry if this has already been covered here (and I'm not sure if I'm phrasing it properly), but I've mostly just explored the CV side of the Voyager, still a novice when it comes to MIDI stuff. :)

Take a look to page 68 of the manual:

"MIDI KEY ORDER allows multiple Voyagers to function together as a
polyphonic synth when controlled by an external MIDI device. Up to 16
Voyagers can be linked together to create a 16-voice synth. To define
the number of Voyagers in a polyphonic setup, set the MAXIMUM KEYS
parameter to the number of Voyagers in your setup, then configure each
Voyager for a different voice number using the ACTIVE KEY parameter.
For example, if you have 3 Voyagers in your setup, each should be set for
‘MAXIMUM KEYS: 3’, and the first Voyager should be set for ‘ACTIVE KEY:
1’, the second ‘ACTIVE KEY: 2’, and the third ‘ACTIVE KEY: 3’. Use the
CURSOR to select the MIDI Key Order parameters and use the -1/+1
buttons to select the values."

...and page 17:

"The Moog Little Phatty synthesizer can also be used in a Voyager polyphonic
system. For more information, consult the LP User’s Manual."

Ahhh, I see I did phrase that incorrectly. I wasn't just thinking of using a non-Phatty synth, I meant to ask about whether that feature can be used with a non-Moog synth. But it sounds like it's just a feature for connecting Moog gear. (?)

Unless other companies use the same programming code as Moog, I highly doubt it. :? Could be wrong, though.
