1/4" to 3.5mm cable

Post by jonsakas » Sun Jan 22, 2023 10:03 pm

Hi, everyone. I have this DFAM and I am new to modular synthesis. I watched two videos from Moog Music where the guy is using a 1/4" to 3.5mm patch cable along with his UAD interface.

Here are the videos:

I am trying to do the same with my Apollo X4 but I can't get it to work. I'm pretty certain I have all the connections right.

I have this 1/4" to 3.5mm adapter that I got from guitar center added to the patch cable but it doesn't seem to work. Is the issue possible that the adapter is STEREO to MONO? https://www.guitarcenter.com/Livewire/E ... Adapter.gc

Also, if anyone can tell me what cable this is in the video? I am not sure which one to buy online.

Thank you!

Stereo to mono adapters usually have resistors (e.g. 10K Ohm) built in to passively sum the right and left channel. This may be in the way of what you're trying to do.

Synthpeter is right to point out the adapter you linked to is a 3.5TRS to 1/4TS; stereo to mono.

In the video, the cable as he says is a "standard 3.5 to 1/4 inch cable". What he means is it's mono.
