Mother32 and Cubase questions

Post by Schloppy » Wed Feb 24, 2021 4:54 pm

Hi,

Im using a RME BabyfacePro FS and Cubase 11.

Just recieved a M32 and trying to figure out the following:

-I hooked up the M32 to the Midiport of the Babyface,
created one Miditrack and an Audiotrack and play
the Mother with my external Keyboard (via PC's USB).
This works, but when i have other Instruments (some VSTi's)
in the Project, the Mother plays along without even having
record enabled on the assigned Midi-Track. I put the Channel on the
Mother to 16 and its regarding Miditrack to 16.
So the Mother is somehow always recieving Midi of the keyboard,
even if the Midichannel of the other VSTi's are not 16 and
the Miditrack for the Mother is not armed (recording not enabled).

-So i tried to set up the Mother as an external Instrument in Cubase,
that works, but now i have the problem that i cant hear the
Audio while realtime exporting the M32 Audio to a file.
So its not possible to tweak the Mother while bouncing,
because i dont hear it. :D

The best method would be, to just route the Mothers Audio
(as ext. Instrument) to an Audiotrack/Channel?

Another question:
Can i draw automations in Cubase and play them back with the Mother?
Lets take the simple Cutoff for example.

I have my Slim Phatty set up as an external instrument in Cubendo. Why aren't you simply recording the track as audio in real time instead of exporting a file?

This is what I do for the majority of my synths. Track presets are very helpful here. Set up your midi track and audio track exactly how you want them and then save it as a multi-track preset. Then you can load the whole setup with a simple click.

Good luck!
