Roland TR-8 sync with DFAM issue

Post by nanematok » Mon Oct 26, 2020 3:38 pm

How can I sync my Roland TR-8 (not TR-08) with my Moog DFAM?

I've tried going through MIDI Out from the TR-8 --> Trigger In (DFAM) --> Trigger Out (DFAM)'t --> Adv/Clock (DFAM)

This, however, didn't really any results. Is there anyone that can help out?

You can’t go midi out of the TR8 to a patch point on the DFAM. I suggest going out of an assignable out. Sacrifice a sound by assigning it to an assignable out and turning it off the main outputs. Then set all the steps to on. Hopefully the volume is strong enough to trigger the DFAM. You can get Eurorack module that will convert audio to trigger as well but hopefully you don’t need it. Try the rim shot.

I have modded my TR8 to send a 5v trigger to the DFAM advance/clock. You assign an instrument (usually rim shot) and it works really well. There is a guy in the UK that sells a mod kit for about £35.

Arturia Beatstep
Arturia Beatstep Pro
low price, overnight from amazon
there are many other methods, but you might as well stick to something as tried and true as this
