DIN Midi Out Fried My Matriarach

Post by Dr Burgh » Sat Mar 28, 2020 8:19 pm

I plugged the Midi DIN out into my Focusrite to use as a midi controller, and since I used it, my Matriarch won't turn off once any keys are hit. I have turned down all envelopes, but that seems to make no difference. Also, when I start up the synth I get a second of garbage sound. Any ideas? Thanks.

Just checking for the obvious...

Do you have any midi connections - DIN or USB? If so disconnect them.
Better yet make sure the only connections are for the audio and power.

Is your VCA Mode switch set to drone?

If you still have the problem it sounds like you need to contact Moog. Phone call is usually better although I'm not sure what their status is these days with COVID-19. Btw I doubt that connecting the midi out caused the problem unless something is miswired.

Followed your instructions and oh! joy! the solution worked. The Matriarch is back up! I really wasn't looking forward to packing this up to send back to Moog. My job is off due to the virus, and I haven't a cent to my name.

Glad that worked. Your situation is all too familiar these days. Best to you and yours.
