Firmware 1.0.6 Global Settings instructions

Post by [email protected] » Sun Nov 17, 2019 2:29 pm

I just updated to Firmware 1.0.6 on my Grandmother. However, I can not find any instructions on how to actually change the new global settings options. Does anyone know how to change the settings?

Oscillator 2 Frequency Knob Range

Clock Output Mode

Independent MIDI OUT Channel Assignment

Thanks in advance!

I believe this is information you’re looking for,

V1.0.6 RELEASE NOTES GLOBAL SETTINGS DETAILS
To access Grandmother’s Global Settings, simultaneously press and hold the HOLD button on the Left-Hand Controller (LHC) and the SYNC button on the front panel, until the SYNC button begins to blink (about 1 second). Now you can select a parameter to edit using the black keys on the keyboard, and then set the value of the selected parameter using the white keys.
Parameters are arranged in groups of ten, selected using the lowest ten black keys on the keyboard (referred to here as F#0 through D#2). The top three black keys (F#2, G#2, A#2) are used to select higher-numbered groups of global parameters. For example, global parameter number 2 (MIDI Sync In) is selected by pressing just the G#0 key. Global parameter number 12 (Gated Glide) is selected by holding the F#2 key and then (while holding F#2) also pressing the G#0 key. Currently there are only 17 global parameters available for editing, so the G#2 and A#2 keys are not yet used for Global Settings; they are reserved for future use.
The SYNC button LED will blink in a special pattern to confirm which global parameter is selected. The SYNC button will blink between one and ten times to indicate the selected parameter number, then will pause (go dark) for a slightly longer time, then repeat. If the selected parameter is in a higher-numbered group, the SYNC button will blink to indicate the group number, then pause, then blink to indicate the parameter number within that group, then pause for a longer interval and repeat. For example if global parameter number 13 (Transpose Immediately) is selected, the SYNC LED will blink once (to indicate parameter group 2, or how many “tens” digits to add to the parameter number), then pause briefly, then blink three times (to indicate parameter number 3 within the current group; 10 + 3 = 13), then after a longer pause this blink pattern repeats. If global parameter number 4 (Note Priority) is selected, then the SYNC LED will just blink four times, pause, then repeat.
The user manual for Grandmother firmware v1.0.2 documents the first ten Global Settings.
This update (firmware v1.0.6) adds seven new Global Settings, located in group 2. These new settings are selected by pressing and holding the F#2 key and then (also) pressing one of the lowest seven black keys to select the parameter.
OSCILLATOR 2 FREQUENCY KNOB RANGE
Hold F#2 & press F#1 to select
• 0 Semitones / Off (F0) • 1 Semitone (G0)
• 2 Semitones (A0)
•...
• 7 Semitones (F1) - Default •...
• 18 Semitones (C3)
Osc 2 Freq Knob Range controls the amount of pitch detuning available from the FREQUENCY knob in the Oscillator 2 section of the front panel. The default is 7 semitones; the range is 0 to 18 semitones, set using any of the white keys on the keyboard (lowest to highest white key sets range to be 0 to 18 semitones).

CLOCK OUTPUT MODE
Hold F#2 & press G#1 to select
• Output clock only when Arp/Seq is running (F0) - Default • Output clock all the time (G0)
Clock Output Mode controls when a clock signal will be present at the CLOCK OUT jack on the Grandmother rear panel. Options are to output clock pulses only when the internal Arpeggiator or Sequencer is running, or to output clock pulses all the time. The timing of clock pulses is determined by the tempo in BPM and the Clock Output PPQN setting.
SEPARATE MIDI CHANNELS
To set only MIDI OUT channel, go into Global Edit mode and then press and hold the highest G# key; while holding that also press the lowest black key (F#0). Then, the lowest 16 white keys set MIDI OUT channel 1-16. The original MIDI Channel global option (just pressing lowest F# key by itself) still works the same way it always has, setting both MIDI IN and OUT channels to the selected channel numbe
