Grandmother and high impedance headphones

Post by 1990eam » Mon Jun 04, 2018 11:21 pm

Hello all. I've been playing with the idea of buying a Grandmother since it's been announced.

I don't have studio monitors and since I would mostly play at night I thought I might as well invest some more money in a pair of good headphones to upgrade from my current AKG k77 entry level cans.

Upon some reading online and given the other uses I'd give to the headphones (casual guitar recording and listening to music) I have decided to go for something like the Senheisser HD650s which have a high impedance (300ohms) and require an external amp that can drive them.

How do I know if the Moog's main out will be able to drive those headphones? And if I were to use a headphone amp, would I need one that has a 1/4 In to connect the Grandmother to that and then connect the headphones to the amp's out?

Sorry if it's a stupid question but I'm kind of new to the HiFi audio world. And thanks.
