Mother-32 and Electribe 2

Post by aldred » Fri Dec 02, 2016 1:28 pm

Hi

I'm trying to run a couple of Mothers from an Electribe 2 without success. I have the channels set up, and I can trigger each fine when the Electribe is stopped. But when I try to record, the Mother sequencers start up, and I'm getting no sound output from them.

All I'm trying to do is replace the first two channels on the Electribe with my Mothers. Has anybody managed this without filtering the MIDI?

Thanks
Mark

I haven't used the Electribe 2, so not sure the exact menu settings, but you need to turn off midi clock and/or transport send from the Electribe 2 in order to prevent the Mother 32 sequencer from starting up. Then you will be able to sequence them as you would any other midi synth.

Thanks.
As far as I can see in the Electribe settings and manual, there isn't an option to do that unfortunately.

More information.

I was using a MIDI Solutions Quadra Thru. I just tested an iConnectivity iConnect MIDI2+ with the same undesirable results. Apparently, both the clock and start/stop events are under the same category of 'realtime events', so you can't filter them separately.

So I switched back to the Quadra Thru and tried sending the Electribe clock from an MPC1000. It works fine!
