Have any of you run into this?
Say, I create a sequence starting with the root in D. I press play and the sequencing begins. I would think that if I pressed the D key it would remain playing what I recorded - yet, if I do this, it transposes the whole sequence up to E. So, while sequence is running, if I want to remain in D, I actually have to press C. When I stop the sequencer, I play and everything is in tune just fine.
What up with that?

Re: M32 Transposing down a note when SEQ running
Hi benulous,
When playing back a Mother-32 sequence, think of the keys as Transposers as opposed to Sequence Starting Note selectors.
The "C" key plays whatever you recorded with no transposition. Every key above or below that "C" will transpose your sequence that same number of half-steps.
If you want your key buttons and sequence starting notes to match, always record your sequences in whatever key needed to make your very first note be "C". Then, there will be a perfect matchup between the key buttons and the starting note.
(Sorry if this reads weird. There are too many words that are similar. Lemme' know if I need to write it a different way.)

Re: M32 Transposing down a note when SEQ running
Thanks Dan! However, that's exactly what I'm doing. Start off point is "C". I then have to press "E" while the sequence is going for it to continue to start on "C". If I actually press "C", it transposes the sequence start note up one note to D. :-/
For instance, I just recorded an 8 note sequence recording just C, 8 times. I press play. I now have to press E to continue the sequence playing in C. If I press C, the sequence transposes up to E.
Does that not happen to you too?

Hmmm...
Let's go back to your original example:
Is this example still valid? (I ask because your second example has a different behavior than your first example.)
Let's go back to your original example:
Your first recorded note was a D. To play that back at its original transposition, you'd need to press C (no transposition). If you press D during playback (which transposes up two half steps from the original sequence) you should hear E (which is two half steps up from D).benulous wrote:Create a sequence starting with the root in D.
