RA Moog keyboard connector

Post by roginator » Tue Feb 28, 2023 4:49 pm

I recently bought original RA moog 950 keyboard in so so shape.

I think ex owner used it as controller for some other modular or monosynth since backplate was not there, only sockets for power and cv/ gate.

It didnot look well, but I did some magic and it will be controller for my moog modular ( system 35 + few more RA moog modules I found over time and loaded in upper cabinet)

So question I have is...
What is type of connector that goes on cable to interconnect system and keyboard?

I did research ... looks like amphenol 97 series, but im not sure.

97-3106A-18-8P(946)

Could somebody confirm thah this is right one or no? If no, please code nr of original would help.

Thanx a lot.

It looks similar, but I don't have a detailed picture of the cable / socket of the original.

But perhaps you can replace it with something new. At the end the main cabinet provides the keyboard with power supply and the keybard provides CV and S/GATE to the main cabinet.

According to the service manual 6 lines of the 8 pole interface are used for interconnection: +12V, CV GND, -6V, CV, S/GATE and S/GATE GND. Two lines are unused.

The interface is very simple. When I cloned the 950 I used a 5-pole DIN cable to do the interconnection. See also http://www.analog-monster.de/mmt950_en.html (last picture)
