As a follow up to my first query does anyone have any information on the large silver coloured round trimmers as used on the 904a ?
I think they are still available as I've seen them on recent designs but cannot make out the name or manufacturer .

Wire wound trimpots. They're still made, but I don't know the OEM.

These were made by CTS.
I think I remember seeing them on some tube amplifiers as well being used as 100 ohm hum balance trimmers for the tube filament circuits.
I'm not sure what the original model number of this trimmer was.

CTS made a 115 series that looked sort of like these...I'm not sure if they are still in production.

Here's a picture of an EBay listing for the trimmer type that I remember, which lists the manufacturer number (137) which is CTS.

Type 116E looks the closest. Same footprint.
