I have been looking into buying a Korg Volca. More than likely going for the beats and then the bass.
Where did you start with your collection?
having bought my first moog (moogerfooger 102 ring mod around 2010) the whole synth thing for me started around 2012 with the original monotron (originally a guitar player with too many delay/ looping and modulation pedals. then the duo and delay and the monotribe. i started the volca series with bass then beats shortly followed by the keys. i have them all except the new mixer thingy. they all have individually unique qualities. the beats is great i love the stutter function, except the snare is way too weak (i double it up with clap for more umph, there is a snare mod to make it more present, i probably will never do it). the sample is nice as a beats substitute, and insane with the level of destruction to an original sample to make a sound except it doesn't have the stutter function. the fm is awesome, deep and confusing but fun. the keys is nice. the bass is fun for that old school acid sound. the kick is also cool but i haven't explored that enough other than straight kick duties.
if you have the extra cash start with the monologue ( great bass plus sequencer) then the beats or sample for rhythms
sorry for the non-moog detour but somewhere between 2012-2016 i bought a lot of gear... moog and others
