A way to slave / trigger the LFO to external clock?

Post by part12studios » Wed Jan 17, 2018 1:32 pm

Hi there,

I was looking at this unit and I was looking at an old MG-1.. and it got me thinking. I know I can control the LFO rate through CV like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vedPtiYbPl0

but i'm wondering if there is a way to hit the synth with a voltage to basically trigger the LFO to start over again. thus making it pulse to a tempo and not just be free floating it's on speed. Maybe a mod?

My old Octave Kitten used to reset with each "trigger" which made it incredibly easy to slave the LFO to an external clock.. but those are pricy and so I'm looking at my Werkstatt and seeing what possibilities might exist for it to do something similar.

The idea as i see it would be just to make sure that the LFO rate is close but not faster than the incoming "click" voltage.. but then it's fun to abuse that too and override the incoming click with the internal LFO speed but always knowing you could dial it back to get it to respond to something synced.

Thanks,
Caleb
