Why did Moog abandon its paid Blackberry 10 Animoog users?

Post by Slartibartfast » Wed Aug 12, 2015 3:54 pm

For some time now the Blackberry 10 Animoog app I paid for refuses to generate any sound, even though the GUI works fine and the visualization animations continue to operate. A recent check on the BlackBerry World site revealed that I am not alone. EVERY paid user of this app is complaining that it no longer generates any sound. I sent an email to Moog about 6 months ago asking for help but was ignored, and that too is something that BB10 Animoog reviewers are complaining about. I checked BlackBerry World again today and noticed that the app has been completely removed.

This is surprising from a company with as illustrious a history as Moog can boast of. This is the first virtual musical instrument I have ever bought that was orphaned by its author like this. Needless to say I am not happy. If you are not going to fix it, how about issuing refunds Moog?

One thing that might not be realized is how small of
a team Moog Music is. According to Amos, who is a great chap,
he was the only software coder for the Sub 37 editor, and it sounded like
maybe the only software/firmware guy period.
What I have noticed is that Moog Music can't do Everything
All the Time, so they prioritize. This is an unofficial speculation
from a casual observer.
