Animoog response to note off messages?

Post by hornermusic » Tue Oct 18, 2011 4:11 pm

Here's my setup. iPad 1 in Alesis IO Dock with the latest firmware update running Animoog. When playing Animoog with my Yamaha S80 keyboard via midi in on the Alesis IO Dock. It is responding to note off messages as if they were note on messages. To illustrate: press down a key and a corresponding note sounds, release the same key and the corresponding note sounds again and is left hanging. Has anyone else been experiencing this behavior with a similar setup? I tried to recreate the behavior in a number of other ipad synths and could not. They all respond correctly to the note off messages.

I am experiencing the same with this setup:

MPC1000 Midi Out -> Midi In on the IO Dock w/ iPad2 running Animoog.

Sunrizer doesn't have this behavior so I guess we have to wait for an update for the Animoog?

HELP!

Yep, same problem here, with an iPad 2 in my case. Hope this gets fixed soon!

Yes, this is happening with me too controlling Animoog with an EWI. Sure hope they can fix this quickly!

Same thing for me too.

I'm using an Axiom 49 hooked up with the camera connection kit and a class-compliant MIDI interface. Note-off messages seem to be retriggering the sound or something similar. I've tried direct from the keyboard and also though Logic with the same result.

Just read on Twitter (from Alesis itself) that they are working on fixing this problem!

I think it's an Animoog problem. I see it using networked Core MIDI, no Alesis dock involved.

It's possible that some devices are sending note-on velocity zero messages rather than note off messages. Animoog sees the note-on velocity zero as simply another note-on message rather than interpreting it as a note-off message.

Rosser Douglas at Moog Music confirms this is a bug and says it will be fixed in an update soon. (It's a true problem with Note Off, not the zero-velocity thing.)
