Tiny Feature request

Post by EricK » Thu Apr 01, 2010 11:56 am

I was wondering if it would be possible to have an Initial Parameters selection. Maybe its because Im a Noob on the unit and haven't given the manual proper attention YET (Will read it Greg, I promise), but Ive been having difficulty trying to program a note from scratch.

Im sure I Overlooked something somewhere, but it would be nice to have a blank slate option to get to quickly.

I was thinking of creating an INIT patch, but the problem is it would take up a preset slot (I was going to use the last slot). Of course this is where an editor would come in handy. You could also create an INIT patch and save the sysex, loading it only when you want to use it rather than leaving it stored on the T3 all the time.

This is really frustrating when programming the Evolver. Being able to initialize a patch without saving and moving one that you created would be a very good feature, just like on the Voyager.
So this thing only plays one note?

Sure, I can do this.

Only thing is, what would you like the "init" patch to be? There's not really a default setting with this instrument. So... let's define the concept here, and then I can implement it.

Thanks,

Amos

Init patch should be very basic.

Mix to OSC A only, both oscillators set to same footage, filter at min resonance, cutoff half open, no filter EG amt, EGs at min attack/decay with full sustain, no LFO or arpeggiator
Gear list: '04 Saturn Ion, John Deere X300 tractor, ganged set of seven reel mowers for 3 acres of lawn, herd of sheep for backup lawn mowers, two tiger cats for mouse population control Oh you meant MUSIC gear Oops I hit the 255 character limi

What if we could write our own init patch? When you go to save a patch, you could save it normally or have the option to "save as init". That would be great.

I personally would like the filter all the way open, mix with both osc at half, no modulation, envelopes at full sustain.

You know, Amos, while I initially thought and still think it could be a good idea, I have since realized that theres really not that many building blocks to work with since its only a sawtooth foundation. I never once put any thought into what exactly my init param would be.

Im coming from the school of thought of the Voyager's initial setting where you can go many different ways and have a lot more to work with.

You can probably come up with a better way to impliment this but to me, it makes sence to engage the initial parameters with the display prepared to adjust the Osc octave.

while composing this post, I thought about what some initial settings might be, but since they might be different for everyone, what would be the possibillity of you programming one, but having the init param made where it can be edited and saved, so that we can customizel it? Most people might use it as an extra preset though.

I think that I woudl trust Moog to design an init param setting rather than trying to think of it myself.

Amos, if you are at liberty to say, what would it entail to have more memory or are there any plans to upgrade the memory?

Thanks for considering my suggestion and sorry I can really offer no better suggestions. Im still at the stage where I haven't become overly comfortable with the unit so my notions of it are not solidified. For example Im wondering if its not too limited to require an init param setting but I know that if I thought that, someone would prove me really wrong.

Were obviously thinking along the same lines lolol.

Eric

Edit:
I like MCs reccomendations for the init patch.
