Wave shaping in Minitaur

Post by Quatschmacher » Wed Mar 28, 2018 7:14 pm

Just wondering if pulse width modulation/wave shaping is something that would be physically possible to add as a new feature via a firmware update (like the addition of new modulation shapes). Not knowing the technical ins and outs I’ll leave it to someone more in the know to answer.

You can do kind of pulse width modulation on OSC2 if you hard sync it to OSC1 and than modulate its pitch with LFO (or filter ENV). You need to set VCO LFO AMT to affect OSC2 only.

As the oscillators are real analog hardware ones, you can't change their features that much via firmware. But as there is reset for the oscillators available (hence the sync feature), it may be possible. But this would need some adaption of the VCO pitch while the PWM is going on. Not that easy to get right.
keep on turning these Moog knobs
