Deep Sine ala Minimoog help

Post by MI6ix » Mon Feb 13, 2017 1:58 pm

Recently purchased the minitaur, love it but have tried without luck to get anything close to a deep punchy sine bass you can pull off with a minimoog. I know its not the forte of this particular machine but would really like to use it for those subtle tones once in a while, something with super fast attack but smooth sub. Am I barking up the wrong tree?

you can do this a couple dif ways

if using the oscillators, you'll have to close the filter down to 60-80hz.

turn the resonance up pretty high, this creates a BUMP in the bass freqs.

adjust envelope to taste. you'll need a lot of gain from your mixer as well.

i know it seems counter intuitive, usually making the resonance higher filters out low freqs, but when filter is set low enough it boosts.

you could also try turning the oscillators down, resonance to 100%, tuning the filter to A=440 and using "Keyboard track" set to 100% - you'll be playing the filter, which i think when in self-oscillation creates a sine tone.
