Minitaur Editor Setup question

Post by chrystals0405 » Mon Nov 16, 2015 8:19 pm

Hey,

So this may seem like an obvious question to everyone - but I need some help connecting my Minitaur with my controller keyboard to the Minitaur Editor. I have my Minitaur connected to my computer via USB, as well as to the controller keyboard via MIDI IN to MIDI OUT. I don't have the controller keyboard connected via USB to my computer - do I need to do that in order for the minitaur editor to connect?
The editor settings on the Minitaur Editor are:
Minitaur Input: Moog Minitaur
Minitaur Output: Moog Minitaur
Knob Response: Verticle
Echo Midi: On
Midi Port Warning: On

Still, it says Minitaur Firmware disconnected.

If someone could point out what I'm missing that would be amazing!
Thank you so much!

- Samantha

The control keyboard does not have anything to do with your Miditaur being recongnized by the editor (or by your computer, first of all). AFAIK the editor does not care at all if there's a keyboard connected. You might need one if you want to hear how the changes you have made with the editor, of course but that's hypothetical as long as you can't get the editor to see the Minitaur.
In other words: Try to fix the USB-connection between computer and Minitaur first. Maybe the cable is not OK, maybe one of the USB ports doesn't quite like MIDI devices, maybe -most probably- a software problem. Which is hard to nail down, without any knowledge of your operating system o hardware.

Do you use an USB hub? Or a USB port not on the PC/Mac itself, but the keyboard or something a like?
Sometimes this is a problem. Not all USB hubs are created equal.

So if the Minitaur is not yet connected directly at the back of your PC/Mac, try this first. And once the is connected to the editor, add the keyboard to the Minitaur via MIDI.
keep on turning these Moog knobs

Sequence:
Prodigy * minimoog '79 * Voyager * MF102 * MF103 * MF104z * MP201 * Taurus 3 * Minitaur * Sub Phatty * MF105 * Minimoog 2017+ MUSE * One 16

Are you still having these issues?
I'm having them too...and was hoping you found the issue/answer.

Mine is connected directly to my Windows Laptop.
I've had it working before...but doesn't recognize the Minitaur now.

Have my Sub37 hooked up via MIDI cable, and also connect to my laptop via a USB hub.

Rebooted laptop, changed cable.

Sub37 is working fine pushing midi to the Minitaur...just cant get editor to recognize/connect to it.

If you are using the any of the recent Moog USB Midi drivers for Windows (the latest is v3.30.0) they work fine for the Sub 37, but you'll have to wait for an (in the works according to Amos) update to the Minitaur firmware to work with the new driver...
